Bibliomania: 16

Bibliomania 16 (90-95)

AlisaMarie to młoda mama dwóch chłopców: Levi'ego i Matthana.

For the last couple for months I have been "secretly" following the Instagram of a woman living in Alaska: alisaonanadventure. AlisaMarie is a young mum of two boys: Levi and Matthan. Looking at her pics and rearing the posts, almost every day I am awed by her openness, honesty, tolerance, but most of all by her unconditional love for her sons. Levi is seven, loves ballet and his parents are mad proud of him. Matthan is four, likes wearing flower-print and his parents are mad proud of him. The features I have mentioned are not unnormal, my! they shouldn't even be mentionable, but our society have rooted in us, that boys don't dance in ballet and don't wear clothes with flowers on them. I am glad that Anika (so far) does not care what society expects of her: she plays with trains and dolls, plays football, sings on the subway and hugs trees: she is just being herself. I hope I will be able to teach her to always do what she loves, believe in herself and remember, that she - and every one of us - is unique. Here are some books on being yourself.

Kiedy dorosnę chcę zostać fotografem albo ośmiornicą

Emily Dove: Wendell, the Narwhal
Narwal Wendell

The small narwhal is angry, that he doesn't fit with the orchestra of the sea animals: the octopus, jellyfish, whale... all make sounds, but him. Adorably illustrated book teacher the names of sea creatures, sounds and that each of us is exactly what he/she should be and has his/her place. For the curious: the narwhale becomes the conductor.

Ben Clanton: Mo's Mustache
Wąsy Mo

Pewnego dnia Mo wyhodowuje wąsy. Piękne wąsy. Wszystkie inne potwory są zachwycone i też chcą nosić wąsy. Książeczka o indywidualizmie i własnym stylu - bombowe ilustracje.

One day Mo gets moustache. Gorgeous moustache. All the monsters are delighted and also want to have moustache. A book on individuality and own style. The illustrations are the bomb!

Amy Krouse Rosenthal & Scott Magoon: Spoon
Łyżka

Mała łyżka wątpi w swoją wartość i zazdrości wyjątkowości widelcom, nożom i pałeczkom.

Small spoon doubts its value and envies forks, knives and chopsticks their exceptionality. Despite unquestionable values of those cutlery pieces, the spoon find out that no-one else can eat granola or soup. And no-one spoons as well as... a spoon.

Pija Lindenbaum: Kenta och barbisarna
Igor i lalki || Kent and dolls

Książka o byciu sobą, przełamywaniu stereotypów i... dość ciekawym zwrocie akcji.

Kent is excellent at football, but also like playing with dolls. A book about being yourself, going against stereotypes and with a very interesting, surprising twist.

Linda Kranz: Only One You
Jeden jedyny Ty

Parents want to teach Adri some "words of wisdom" for life - many of them are rooted in the conviction, that each of us is unique. Very positive book with a very valuable message: "There’s only one you in this great big world. Make it a better place." Illustrated with pictures of hand-painted stones/fish.

A zatem, kochani - uczcie swoje dzieci doceniać własną wyjątkowość i wyjątkowość innych. I nie zapomnijcie - wy też jesteście wyjątkowi!

So, dears - teach your munchkins to value their own exceptionality and this of others. And don't forget - you are unique as well!

Do następnego, pa.
Tata,
a.
