Ten przystanek jest oczywistością, ale naprawdę, naprawdę warto pojechać na cały dzień do wiedeńskiego zoo, a mieszkańców zachęcam do zakupu biletu rocznego (kalkuluje się już przy trzecim wstępie - mnie udało się to w trzy tygodnie). Ten ogród zoologiczny to raj dla dzieci. Na kilku przykładach pokażę wam dlaczego: oto nasze ulubione miejsca w Zoo Schönbrunn. This stop seems very obvious, but it's really, really woth to spend a day in Vienesse zoo. I encourage people living in Vienna to buy a year ticket (it pays already after three visits, which I managed within the first three weeks). This zoo is a paradise for children. Let me show you why: here are our favorite spots of Viennesse zoo. Note: it's a huge zoo - so I've divided this really long post into three parts!

1. Krokopavillon: Akwaria i terraria || Aquariums and terrariums 

Skręcając w prawo przy wejściu głównym, trafiamy od razu do Krokopavillon, budowli wypełnionej akwariami i terrariami. To jedno z naszych najulubieńszych miejsc w całym zoo. 

Turn right just after entering the zoo, and you get to the Krokopavillon, a building full of aquariums and terrariums. It's one of our favorite spots in the whole zoo.

Idealne miejsce dla dziecka - dużo akwariów, wszystko widać - najlepsze jest akwarium na prawym końcu sali - szklana ściana - można siedzieć i patrzeć na kolorowe rybki. Ja bym mogła spędzić tu cały dzień.

It's just perfect for a child - lots of aquariums, everything well visible - the best is the aquarium at the right-side end of the room - it's just a glass wall: you can sit down and admire the colorful fish. I could sit like this whole day long.

Można też zajrzeć do żółwi i flamingów.


You can pay a short visit to turtles and flamingos.

Poziom akwarium płaszczek pozwala nawet niedużym odwiedzającym na oglądanie tych niezwykłych zwierząt.


The level of the manta rays allows even the littlest visitors to watch those fascinating creatures.

Bogactwo barw i form oraz różnorodność zwierząt mogą przyprawić o zawrót głowy. Ryby, ukwiały, meduzy, jaszczurki, węże, pająki, skorpiony, żaby...

The variety of colors and form and the sheer amount of different creatures can make one's head spin. Fish, jellyfish, lizards, snakes, spiders, scorpios, frogs...

Szczególnie polecam niepozorne akwarium obok "typowych" meduz: mieszkające w nim Mnemiopsis leidyi to malutkie żebropławy zdolne do bioluminescencji!

My special tip: look into a small aquarium next to the "ordinary" jellyfish: it houses Mnemiopsis leidyi, so called sea walnuts, which have the amazing ability of bioluminescence!

Tuż przed szklanym tunelem, który jest niczego sobie pomysłem, znajduje się zjeżdżalnia. Kilka schodków prowadzi do małego tunelu, po prawej stronie którego przez szybę widać piranie, a na jego końcu znajduje się zakręcana zjeżdżalnia. Niby nic, a dzieci ją kochają.

Right before the glass tunnel, which is quite a neat idea in itself, there's a small slide for kids. A set of stairs leads to a tunnel - on the right side there's the aquarium with piranhas and it end in a winding slide. Very hubmle, and yet kids can't seem to get enough.

Na drugim końcu pawilonu znajduje się fascynująca "zagroda" nietoperzy. Nakręciłam dla Was nawet krótki filmik. Anika wprawdzie uparcie powtarza, że się boi nietoperzy, ale bardzo chętnie je obserwuje i pokazuje mi paluszkiem wszystkie zauważone egzemplarze. Nietoperze w pawilonie mają przesuniętą dobę i około godziny 14 zapada sztuczny zmierzch, więc można obserwować ich fascynujące loty.

On the other end of the pavillon there's a fascinating bats' compund. I've managed to make a short wideo for you. Anika stubbornly claims she's afraid of bats, but is very keen on observing them and shows me every single one of them she can notice. The bats living here have their day a bit shifted, and around 2 pm starts the dusk, so that we can watch them wake up and fly. 

Przez cały pawilon ciągną się przeszklone tuneliki dla mrówek Atta sexdens, tzw. farmerek, znanych nam wszystkich jako egzotyczne mrówki tnące liście. Genialny pomysł i wspaniała pomoc naukowa dla dzieci. Przez szklane tuneliki można oglądać marsz mrówek, aż do komór z liśćmi w sali zamieszkiwanej przez żółwie olbrzymie i motyle. 

Through the whole building runs a system of transparent tunnels made for Atta sexdens ants, better known as leafcutter ants. Brilliant idea and a great lesson for kids. The glass tunnels allow the visitors to watch the ants march all the way to the harvesting area in the butterly / giant turtle compound.

O motylach też można się sporo nauczyć, ponieważ nie dość, że bardzo blisko odwiedzających wisi paśnik, to opodal znajdują się żerdki z kokonami. A do tego na ścianie zamieszczono ogromną tablicę, z której można dowiedzieć się o procesie przepoczwarzania. Nieustająca lekcja biologii.
Warto wspomnieć, że z motylami (kto z kim) mieszkają prawdziwi giganci: trzy żółwie olbrzymie.

There's a number of ways to learn about butterflies as well. Not only is there a feeder close to the viitors, but also some sticks with cocoons. On the wall there's also a big board with compact info about the process of metamorphosis. Endless biology lesson. It's worth mentioning, that butterflies share the space with three giant turtles.

2. Zagroda hipopotamów || The hippopotamus compound

Ruszamy dalej - mijamy koale i pandy, skręcamy w lewo, a przed nami pojawia się wybieg hipopotamów. W słoneczne dni dzieci trzeba trzymać na rękach, żeby cokolwiek zobaczyły, ale jeśli hipcie postanowią zostać w budynku, to jest na co popatrzeć. 

Let's move on - we pass the koalas and pandas, turn left, and in front of us we have the hipopotamus compound. On sunny days the kids need to be lifted to catch a glimpse of any hippo, but if the animals decide to stay in, you can see - and hear - quite some impressive stuff. 

Dla mnie najciekawszy jest przeszklony fragment basenu, w którym pływają - czasami można zobaczyć gruby brzuszek albo tłuściutką łapkę. Również tutaj znajdziemy bardzo dużo informacji o tych olbrzymach, włączając koło z zagadkami!

I like the glass wall of the pool - if you're lucky you might see a fat tummy or a chubby leg. Also here we get to know a lot about those huge mammals, including a quiz wheel!

Metalowe rzeźby można napotkać na całym terenie zoo. Do tej pory znalazłyśmy hipopotamy, pandy, lwa i nosorożca.

The metal sculptures are scattered in the whole zoo. So far we've seen the hippos, pandas, a lion and a rhinoceros.

3. Zagroda lwów || The lion compound

Nasz następy przystanek stanowi zagroda lwów. 

Our next stop is the lion compound.

Pod wybiegiem prowadzi tunel z dużymi szybami - nam się udało spotkać tam raz lwicę - na szczęście Anika obudziła się dosłownie minutę przed tym, jak pani lwica postanowiła się nam chwilę poprzyglądać. Co za przeżycie! 

Under the compund there's a tunnel with huge glass panels - once we met a lioness there - luckily Anika had woken up about one minute before the lady lion decided to look at us for a moment. What an experience!

Szyby umieszczono również w suficie i czasami można zobaczyć brzuch wylegującego się na górze wybiegu wielkiego kota.

There're glass panels in the roof as well, so sometimes you might see a belly of a great cat basking in the sun above.

4. Wybieg dla królików i świnek morskich || The rabbits and Guinea pigs compound

Wychodząc z tunelu i idąc przed siebie, trafimy do wybiegu królików. 

Walking straight from the tunnel we come to the rabbit and Guinea pigs compound.

Z myślą o dzieciach przygotowano pod wybiegiem tunele wychodzące na powierzchnię i zakończone przezroczystymi kopułkami, przez które można z bliska przyglądać się tym słodkim gryzoniom. Niektóre z ich legowisk są również zaopatrzone w szklane ściany, przez które możemy zajrzeć gryzoniom do domu.

Especially for children there're tunnels running under the compound with glass cupolas allowing observation of the rabbits. Some of the rabbit's lairs have also a glass wall, so that we can see inside the rodents' home.

5. Duży plac zabaw || Large playground

Pożegnawszy się z króliczkami, dochodzimy do największego w zoo placu zabaw. 

After saying good-bye to the rabbits, we come to the zoo's largest playground. 

Został on podzielony na dwie części. Ta dla starszych dzieci to dużo lin, tuneli, zjeżdżalnia, dwa "gniazda", trampolina...

It's divided into two parts. The one for older kids has a lot of tunnels, ropes, a slide, two "nests", a trampolin...

Ta mniejsza jest utrzymana w stylistyce Gaudiego i znajdziemy na niej małą zjeżdżalnię z tunelem, labirynt, długą ławkę / równoważnię, kilka zwierzątek... 

The smaller one is in Gaudi's style and we have here a small slide with a tunnel, a simple spiral labirynth, long seat / balancing devide, some animals for riding...
